Wednesday 25 November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, otherwise known in Australia as "White Ribbon Day". The white ribbon is symbol of a pledge to never commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.
White Ribbon Day has never been more important in Australia. This year alone, more than 60 women have been killed by a partner or family member, a statistic Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull recently described as "a national disgrace".
Show your support for this cause by attending the White Ribbon Day Breakfast at Wests, New Lambton. The breakfast will be run between 7am and 9am and the cost is $30 per person. Speakers will include survivor Angela Ivancevic (featured in this article) and Nathan Towney. The breakfast will also feature performances by the Hunter School Of Performing Arts and Chakras Performing Arts.
Tickets must be pre-booked online at ProTicket (click here), by calling 02 4935 1287 or in person at Wests Leagues Club, Hobart Road, New Lambton. For further information, view this flyer or contact Jon Chin on 0414 496 155 or via email.
